Episode 14: JEDREK KOSTECKI

When did you decide to start shooting girls? What was your “mental process” behind the decision?

I used to shoot wildlife, but decided I want to do a form of photography that would force me to get out and be with people. My buddy Wojtek hooked me up with my first model, his then-wife did make up her for me and I’ve been doing it ever since.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

I usually wake up to take a piss before my alarm goes off.

Does your mother appreciate your pictures?

I don’t think she really cares one way or the other.

Who is your “dream” model? Where would you love to set your shooting?

I love shooting girls who aren’t models, that’s all I really want. I can’t see myself working with pros, I’ve done it before and it’s boring.

Where do I really want to shoot? Underwater.

Are you keeping your work secret to someone?

I’m not sure what you mean by this. Everybody who knows me well knows what I do.

Are you usually turned on by the model you are shooting?

Not really, I’m too busy thing about the stuff I want to do or what I want to see, but I’m rarely turned on.

Did any model ever get mad at you because she was looking “ugly” in your pictures?

Maybe, I dunno. I used to worry about stuff like this, but I’ve come to realize that it’s not up to me. You try to do the best you can, but you can’t please everyone.

What do you do in your free time?

Photography and cycling. This isn’t my job, I just do this for fun.

What is the difference between a good nude picture and an amazing one?

The X factor, and I have no idea what the hell that is.

Who is, in your opinion, the most overrated nude photographer? And the one who is not appreciate yet?

Overrated: Terry Richardson. Underrated… I don’t know, the internet has made me someone who recognizes photographs and not photographers.

Your biggest fault.

Laziness and no follow-through.

What does your partner think about your work?

She’s alright with it, but sometimes I think she wishes I had another hobby. Something with fewer naked chicks.

Do you remember your dreams in the morning? Are you able to interpret them?

I do, sometimes, but I never interpret them. I have used them as inspiration for shoots though.
